PetSmart will offer same-day delivery from nearly 1,500 stores across the U.S. via an expanded partnership with Instacart, following a successful launch in more than 150 PetSmart stores in Canada. Shoppers can order food, treats, toys and even large items like dog crates, cat towers and aquariums for delivery in as fast as one hour by visiting Instacart’s PetSmart page or selecting the PetSmart storefront on the Instacart app.
Last month, PetSmart announced its partnership with Uber Eats for on-demand delivery across its 1,600+ stores in Canada, the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
“At PetSmart, we exceed pet parent needs and expectations by giving them more convenient options to shop with us,” said Cherise Ordlock, SVP of Digital at PetSmart in a statement. “By expanding our Instacart partnership into the U.S., we are further enhancing our unrivaled shopping experience, providing even more convenience and accessibility to help pet parents quickly get products and solutions for pets of all species.”
PetSmart competitor Petco also has taken steps to boost convenience for its customers. The retailer partnered with Freshpet in March 2023 to offer subscription delivery of fresh dog food in 15 states, with plans to take the program national later this year. Additionally, in February Petco announced plans to expand its shop-in-shops to 99% of Canadian Tire stores by the middle of 2023.
