Discount home goods retailer Big Lots will offer same-day delivery services from more than 1,000 of its stores across the U.S. through a new partnership with Shipt. This expansion of its omnichannel offerings reflects growth plans that the retailer outlined in January 2022, when it revealed its goal of increasing annual sales to $8 billion to $10 billion and, over the next six to seven years, adding 500 new stores to its existing roster of more than 1,400 locations.
“We’re pleased to join Shipt’s marketplace to offer customers an additional solution for all last-minute needs,” said Bruce Thorn, President and CEO of Big Lots in a statement. “This partnership expands our ability to provide exceptional deals on top brands, surprising finds and best-in-class service to a new community of customers via same-day delivery.”
Through the partnership, Big Lots’ ecommerce shoppers will have access to Shipt’s same-day services for mid- and small-sized goods such as toys, paper products and small furniture items like chairs and desks. Shipt’s services for Big Lots’ customers will be fulfilled by the delivery platform’s pool of 300,000 personal shoppers. Big Lots will continue to offer its existing curbside, BOPIS and same-day fulfillment services for heavier and bulkier items.
“We often say we bring the store to your door, and we’re taking that even further with the addition of Big Lots’ robust assortment of home goods, groceries, apparel, beauty products, everyday essentials and even small furniture to Shipt’s marketplace,” said Rina Hurst, Chief Business Officer at Shipt in a statement. “This partnership builds upon our efforts to make Shipt a one-stop-shop for all the shopping needs of our customers. With such a unique and diverse collection of merchandise, Big Lots is perfect for shoppers who pride themselves on delivering a high-quality experience.”
