The craze for curbside pickup accelerated by COVID has hit the convenience store segment. Quality Mart will pilot “virtual drive-thru” technology from the SWIPEBY curbside and pickup platform at five of its North Carolina locations.
In addition to the Quality Mart pilot, c-store chains in New England and on the West Coast will begin offering SWIPEBY services over the next few months, according to the solution provider. The geofenced virtual drive-thru solution provides these retailers with customer data linked to delivery, which will aid their marketing efforts and increase the potential for them to develop additional revenue streams.
Trends toward ease of fulfillment in the c-store business have been growing recently, with new services emerging through partnerships such as those between Circle K and Farmstead as well as Urban Value Corner Store, Vroom Delivery and Tortoise.
“We have always believed in providing our customers with the best possible products and the highest level of service each and every time,” said Sam Metzler, an SVP at Quality Oil Company, the parent company of Quality Mart in a statement. “That’s why we jumped at this opportunity with SWIPEBY not only to extend that philosophy, but to think of new ways to deliver on this promise.”
