Starbucks customers in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec) can now use the café chain’s popular mobile app to order on-demand delivery via DoorDash, as well as ordering directly in the DoorDash app. While Starbucks has partnered with DoorDash for delivery since January 2023, this will be the first time that the retailer integrates the option into its own app experience.
App users can toggle between Pickup and Delivery options at the top of the Store Selection screen as part of a unified digital experience for Starbucks customers who live within the delivery radius of participating stores.
Starbucks is leveraging DoorDash’s Online Ordering solution to manage delivery via its app. The solution, part of the DoorDash Commerce Platform, offers an integrated ordering system that allows merchants to personalize the digital experience, capture customer-specific insights and drive user engagement.
Starbucks has been adding delivery options, including a national rollout with Grubhub that kicked off in June 2024. For its part, DoorDash has been busily adding a wide range of retail clients. For example, in January 2024 The Vitamin Shoppe, Camping World, Golf Galaxy, JD Sports and Finish Line partnered with DoorDash for delivery services, and in September 2024 DoorDash added H Mart and Aveda to its retailer roster on the heels of Mattress Firm’s addition in August.
