DoorDash wants everyone to know that it delivers more than take-out food and groceries — a lot more. The platform is making that point with its Holiday Rescue Sweepstakes, a last-minute gifting solution for shoppers tearing their hair out (and cursing their own procrastination) over shipping delays.
From Dec. 20-21, shoppers can win last-minute replacement gifts from DoorDash that include the latest tech and beauty products, toys, apparel and more. The group of sweepstakes winners, who will be announced starting Dec. 22, will receive a total of $100,000 in gifts, redeemable with promo codes and gift replacement links sent via email.
“The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year, but even the best-laid plans can go sideways,” said Jennifer Richardi, Head of Brand and Creative at DoorDash in a statement. “When that must-have gift doesn’t show up on time or a package doesn’t quite make the sleigh, DoorDash steps in to keep the magic on track.”
Shoppers in need of holiday rescuing can use #HolidayRescueSweepstakes and @DoorDash to comment on DoorDash’s sweepstakes posts. The comment will trigger participation in the sweepstakes, and an automatic direct message will be sent from DoorDash with a link to the entry form. Shoppers can then complete the entry form with details including the delayed gift item, value of item, etc., with bonus points awarded for a screenshot of the “tragically delayed” shipping update.
In addition, for 12 days leading up to the sweepstakes, a total of 60 customers who are facing shipping delays will receive a gift card covering the entire cost of their missing gift.
DoorDash VP of New Verticals Fuad Hannon recently delivered insights on the platform’s strategy on the Retail Remix podcast.
