Afterpay Launches New Platform Offering Buy Now, Pay Later Customers Merchandise Exclusives

Flexible payments provider Afterpay has launched a new platform called The DROPSHOP that will give consumers who use its Buy Now, Pay Later service exclusive access to limited edition merchandise, offers and experiences.

The first “drop,” which is being offered in partnership with Finish Line, will give U.S. Afterpay customers early access to a limited edition Nike AIR MAX 90 sneaker, from April 27 through May 2, 2021. Afterpay also has joined forces with Snapchat for its inaugural drop, which will allow shoppers to try on the sneakers virtually via the social media site’s new augmented reality lens.

After “trying on” the shoes on The DROPSHOP platform, shoppers will be directed to the Finish Line website to complete their purchase. Only customers using Afterpay’s Buy Now, Pay Later offering will have early access to purchase the sneakers, while supplies last. Finish Line will bring the product to consumers around the world through its Global Access platform, which is powered by parent company JD Sports.

With The DROPSHOP, we are pushing the boundaries on how these consumers shop, bringing them the latest and most innovative technology that paves the way for the future of shopping.”
