Torrid has entered the Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) business to serve its size 10-to-30 customers, becoming resale platform ThredUP’s first plus-size brand. The ThredUP RaaS platform allows brands to tap into its Clean Out program, which helps consumers clean out their closets for retailer credit.

U.S. customers can print a prepaid shipping label from torrid.thredup.com, fill a shippable box with apparel, shoes and accessories from any brand and send it to ThredUP free of charge. These sellers will receive a Torrid credit for all items sold that can be used in the retailer’s stores or online at Torrid.com. For a limited time, Torrid will offer a bonus to customers who participate.

“We’re pleased to offer our customers an exciting and convenient opportunity to earn value by extending the lifetime of their clothes,” said Lisa Harper, CEO at Torrid in a statement. “Working with ThredUP is a natural step in our mission to become a more impactful brand as we leverage its RaaS platform to contribute to a more sustainable future for fashion.”

Torrid joins a number of brands, including Madewell, Farfetch and Walmart, that have partnered with ThredUP to serve a more sustainably minded consumer.

In November 2022, ThredUP partnered with designer Zero Waste Daniel and actor Fran Drescher on a limited ThredUP x Zero Waste Daniel Full Circle collection. The partnership is designed to serve a consumer who is shopping more sustainably during the holiday season with a collection featuring home goods and fashions created from textiles that were not in resale condition and would best be used as upcycled materials to create new items.
