Zenni Optical has teamed up with Eyebot to deploy 10 Eyebot S1 kiosks, which provide rapid vision tests that take just 90 seconds, in high foot traffic locations to increase accessibility to eye care — particularly for those that face barriers to obtaining in-person vision tests. The first two kiosks are located at Boston-area malls; eight more will be deployed throughout New England in the coming weeks and into 2025.
Kiosk users can get a vision test and order Zenni eyewear in a single visit, reducing the time typically required to get new eyewear. The vision test and prescription cost $20, but shipping and prescription costs are waived if a customer purchases $49 glasses from Zenni, which does not operate brick-and-mortar stores.
“Our mission is to simplify and lower the barriers to vision care for everyone,” said Matthias Hofmann, PhD, Founder and CEO of Eyebot in a statement. “By partnering with Zenni, we are not only providing quick and efficient vision tests but also ensuring that people can buy affordable eyewear immediately after their test.”
The kiosks’ accessibility and ability to quickly triage and refer urgent cases also will support eyecare professionals.
