In mid-September, Etsy will launch a closed beta test of Etsy Insider, the marketplace’s new buyer loyalty program. Select U.S. buyers will be able to take advantage of benefits including free U.S. domestic shipping on many items, first access to special discounts and merchandise and a limited-edition annual gift designed by an Etsy seller.
The program will be funded by Etsy and through a planned membership fee, with no cost to Etsy sellers.
“We believe Etsy Insider can become an important lever in turning our strong brand affinity into customer loyalty,” said Simona Shakin, VP, Product and Retention Marketing at Etsy in a blog post. “Our teams are excited to glean insights from this beta launch to help inform Etsy’s path forward. We’re confident Etsy Insider will make it easier and more joyful than ever for buyers to seamlessly discover pieces they will love from real people they’re proud to support.”
Earlier this month, Etsy debuted an ad campaign designed to differentiate itself from competitors by emphasizing that the products on its marketplace are “original items from real people.”
