A top destination for tourism with a footfall of 6,900 shoppers per hour, Corso Buenos Aires, a prominent shopping street in Milan, is the home of Skechers’ latest performance concept store.
Approximately 294 square meters (just under 3,200 square feet) in size, Skechers’ new store brings its assortment of comfort footwear, apparel and accessories to Europe’s renowned High Street. Crafted to be “a reimagination of mid-century design,” the store is illuminated by LED lighting and constructed with renewable EU-manufactured biopolymer materials. The modern space also has a Skechers Performance area as well as dedicated apparel and accessory sections and products for every age and activity, from casual to work, fashion and sports.
“Milan has long been known as one of Italy’s top destinations for tourism, fashion and culture, and our new store places us among the world’s most prominent brands in this vibrant city, right in the heart of Corso Buenos Aires, one of Europe’s longest shopping streets,” said Sergio Esposito, Country Manager of Skechers Italia in a statement. “Our close proximity to Milan Centrale and Lima metro stations will make our retail location a heavily trafficked conduit for the tens of thousands who come to shop daily.”
Leaning into Performance Experiences
After opening the company’s 5,000th store in Bogotá, Colombia in February 2024, Skechers President Michael Greenberg said the brand was on its way to 10,000 total stores. “Performance” is undoubtedly a big product focus for the brand: Skechers recently reimagined a store in Canada’s West Edmonton Mall to feature immersive components that encourage shoppers to test out its performance-based products. In Italy specifically, there are more than 40 Skechers retail destinations, including three additional doors in Milan.
“Italy has played a key role in our growth across Europe,” said Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers in a statement. “We look forward to further building our business in this important market with this high-profile destination, one whose fashion trends, signature collections and innovative hands-free designs can connect with the tourists and locals who appreciate Milan’s reputation for style.”
