Following a year when Skechers generated record sales of $8.97 billion, a 12.5% increase over 2023, the footwear brand plans to continue its aggressive store expansion in 2025 by opening 180 to 200 locations. Skechers opened its 5,000th store in Bogotá, Colombia in February 2024, at which time Skechers President Michael Greenberg said the brand was on its way to a total of 10,000 stores.
“With the breadth of our product and global reach, Skechers’ branded stores, both concept locations and quality malls, outlets and big box stores in high-traffic areas continue to drive awareness and purchase intent,” said David Weinberg, EVP and COO of Skechers during a Feb. 6, 2025 conference call discussing the brand’s financial results. “We ended the quarter with 5,296 Skechers stores worldwide, of which 1,787 are company-owned locations, including 610 in the United States.” Skechers also has more than 3,500 third party-owned stores.
During Q1 2025, Skechers already has opened 14 company-owned stores and relocated four stores, including Skechers’ reimagined store in Canada’s West Edmonton Mall, now an immersive “Performance” location featuring half-size pickleball and basketball courts and a range of technology showcases.
“While we remain focused on our core business, we believe our performance division with basketball, soccer, golf, running and pickleball footwear will become an increasingly important part of our growth story globally,” said Weinberg.

The retailer also is investing in the infrastructure needed to support its growing brick-and-mortar portfolio. “To meet the evolving needs of consumers worldwide, both now and in the future, we are investing in our operations,” said Weinberg. “This includes improved operational capabilities with the expansion of our distribution centers in the U.S., China and Europe, delivering an exceptional customer experience through our direct-to-consumer channel and increasing our points of sale through our valuable retail partnerships.”
