As the back-to-school season ramps up, Verizon is turning more than 10,000 stores into interactive tech workshops for families during Verizon Family Weekend, Aug. 9 and 10.
This two-day activation marks the start of a month-long initiative focused on digital wellness, hands-on learning and smart tech solutions for students, parents and educators. Verizon experts will be onsite to guide families through personalized setups, live demos and digital safety tools. Additionally, all store reps are receiving specific training to advise on the best options for kids of all ages, along with training about parenting in a digital world.
In-store workshop highlights include:
- Setting up the Gizmo Watch 3 Adventure for kid-safe connectivity;
- Learning how to manage screen time and location tracking with the Verizon Family app;
- Exploring connected tablets as focused learning tools;
- Accessing free digital wellness resources and workshops from partners like My Digital TAT2 and OATS by AARP;
- Scoring limited-edition stickers by artist Jason Naylor that are designed to inspire students; and
- Exclusive in-store deals for new and existing customers.
Then, on Aug. 21, Verizon will launch a Family Plus perk: For $10 a month (a savings of $4.99 a month over the current price), the new Verizon Family Plus perkgives parents an enhanced all-in-one suite of parental controls in the Verizon app, including unlimited location monitoring with on-demand updates, content filtering, screen time management and even driving insights for new teen drivers.
“We want to be a partner parents can trust to help their families build healthy digital habits and stay connected safely,” said Sowmyanarayan Sampath, CEO of Verizon Consumer in a statement. “By providing tangible value and savings, expert advice, age-appropriate tech and tools like the Verizon Family app, we’re making sure parents know ‘we got you’ with comprehensive support and peace of mind during the busy back-to-school season and beyond.”
