Wayfair will seek to replicate the success of its first large-format store, which opened in May 2024 in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Ill., with a new 114,000-square-foot location in Yonkers, N.Y., scheduled to open in early 2027. In March 2025 Wayfair announced that its second large-format store would open in Atlanta in 2026.
Since its opening one year ago, the Wilmette store has welcomed 720,000 visitors, with more than 50% of those making purchases representing customers new to the Wayfair brand. The store has maintained a customer Net Promoter Score (NPS) of over 70% since the opening and has created more than 120 local jobs. In-store events consistently attract more than 75 guests, most of whom are first-time visitors, and the store has an ongoing partnership with Connections for the Homeless.
The Yonkers store will be located in the open-air Ridge Hill shopping center and will feature 19 departments, including furniture, décor, outdoor living and home improvement, all organized by style to help customers navigate the store more easily. The store also will feature a large assortment of Wayfair Verified products that are carefully reviewed by the retailer for quality, value and customer satisfaction.
“New York is one of the most design-forward markets in the world, and Yonkers gives us the space to bring our retail vision to life,” said Liza Lefkowski, VP of Merchandising and Stores at Wayfair in a statement. “This location lets us serve everyone from Manhattan to Westchester and beyond with an inspiring, full-scale shopping experience that Wayfair is known for.”
