Wayfair to Test Smaller Store Format with First Ohio Location

With four large-format store openings in the pipeline, Wayfair is now planning to test a smaller-format location with its new Columbus, Ohio store, scheduled to open in late 2026. At 70,000 square feet, the furniture store will be about half the size of Wayfair’s large-format stores.

In July 2025 Wayfair announced plans for what will be its fourth large-format store, scheduled to open in Denver in late 2026, joining locations in Wilmette, Ill., Atlanta and Yonkers, N.Y.

“As we scale our retail strategy, we are focused on both expansion and experimentation,” said Liza Lefkowski, VP of Merchandising and Stores at Wayfair in a statement. “Not only are we thrilled to open our first Ohio store, we are excited to see how customers respond to our efforts to provide a comprehensive home shopping experience in a smaller footprint.”

Despite the smaller size, the Columbus store will feature a wide assortment across multiple departments, including furniture, housewares, appliances, mattresses and décor, along with curated Wayfair Verified products and complimentary design service areas. The retailer plans to evaluate how a smaller store can drive customer engagement and efficiency while maintaining both inspiration and convenience. Products will be available for immediate take-home, while larger pieces will be fulfilled through the Wayfair logistics network.
