Uber Direct Partners with Shopify to Integrate On-Demand Delivery Options for Merchants

Shopify Plus merchants in the U.S., Canada and France can now embed multiple delivery options into their checkout experiences via a partnership with Uber Direct, including one-hour, same-day and scheduled deliveries. The new capabilities are designed to provide sales opportunities during key moments, such as last-minute gifts, urgent or spontaneous purchases and items requiring special care, as well as times when shoppers who have missed shipping deadlines still want to send something meaningful.

“Our integration with Shopify will give Shopify Plus merchants a new way to keep their direct connection with customers and stay competitive — without the cost or complexity of building delivery operations from scratch,” said Bernie Huddlestun, Head of Uber Direct in a statement. “We’re excited to help retailers strengthen customer relationships and unlock new revenue — especially during peak moments when speed matters most.”

Uber Direct is now built into Shopify’s online store and POS, allowing store staff to turn on delivery options within minutes. “Customers choose delivery during their online checkout, and can track orders in real time,” said Ray Reddy, VP of Retail at Shopify in a statement. The integration also includes transparent pricing that allows retailers to decide how they will pass delivery costs to customers, helping them to control their margins.

Shopify released new enhancements aimed at small merchants earlier this month, and in September 2025 Shopify enabled in-app purchasing on OpenAI’s ChatGPT for thousands of merchants its platform supports.

Last month Pacsun, Camping World and Lush added Uber to their delivery portfolios, following an array of retailers this year that included Hibbett, DSW, Sephora and Best Buy.
