The Home Depot is predicting/hoping for a recovery in the U.S. housing market next year that would fuel the retailer’s growth. Home Depot provided a market recovery case that would see total sales growth of 5% to 6%, total comparable sales growth of 4% to 5% and operating profit growth faster than sales.
That would be a faster growth rate than projected in The Home Depot’s preliminary FY 2026 outlook, based on growth in the home improvement market ranging from -1% to +1%. The retailer is forecasting total sales growth of 2.5% to 4.5% and comparable sales growth that would range from flat to 2% for the coming fiscal year.
“Our Market Recovery Case reflects our performance expectations once we see momentum in housing activity and increased spend on larger projects driven by pent-up demand,” said Richard McPhail, EVP and CFO at The Home Depot in a statement. “We believe that the pressures in housing will correct and provide the home improvement market with support for growth faster than the general economy, and we expect to continue to grow faster than our market.”
Sales to professionals will be critical to the retailer’s growth in the $1.1 trillion total addressable market (TAM) for home improvement, in which The Home Depot’s market share is currently 15%, totaling $110 billion — $500 billion from consumers, $600 billion from pros.
“We have an enormous opportunity to grow our pro business,” said Ted Decker, Chairman, President and CEO of The Home Depot during a call discussing the market recovery plan. “Almost every type of pro shops at The Home Depot, and we are building differentiated capabilities to better serve them,” he added. “Our organic efforts will leverage our stores, digital properties and supply chain assets to capture more share with the small to large residential pro who shops across multiple categories.”
In November 2023 Home Depot acquired International Design Group, parent company of Construction Resources, a leading distributor of architectural specialty products for pros, and in March 2024 the retailer opened four distribution centers specifically to serve pro customers, as well as acquiring building products distributor SRS Distribution. In June 2025 The Home Depot purchased specialty building products distributor GMS.
Home Depot Looks to New Creator Portal to ‘Drive Meaningful Engagement’

The retailer also has launched The Home Depot Creator portal, an online platform designed to provide digital content creators with access to content inspiration, campaign opportunities and expertise to help them build their home improvement content. Thousands of creators already have enrolled, and applications are now open to the public.
“The Home Depot Creator portal isn’t just a website — it’s a community that drives meaningful engagement with current and future customers through talented personalities who give them confidence to tackle their home improvement projects,” said Molly Battin, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer at The Home Depot in a statement.
Content creators can connect not only with opportunities driven by The Home Depot brand but also with its network of suppliers and products. Creators can earn commissions through shoppable links, access tools to maximize content opportunities and track performance, all through the portal.
Accepted applicants will receive creator-focused onboarding and access to training resources, best practices, branded hashtags, curated collections and product catalogs to help maximize their visibility with the retailer. Participants also can benefit from storefront capabilities, special perks, product gifting and more.
