Sustainable Clothing Brand Pact Debuts Resale Program

Pact has created a Clean Out resale program, powered by the ThredUp Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) technology, allowing its customers to resell gently-worn items for “Pact cash” credits with the retailer. Pact, maker of the Earth’s Favorite Clothing brand, joins other ThredUp-powered resale programs from J.Crew, Tommy Hilfiger and Madewell.

Pact customers can generate a prepaid shipping label from pact.thredup.com, fill a shippable box or bag with apparel, footwear and accessories from any brand in their closet and ship it to ThredUp for free. Items that sell on the platform will generate Pact cash for the sellers.

“At Pact, we believe sustainability doesn’t stop at the point of purchase — it’s about the entire lifecycle of the garment,” said Brendan Synnott, the Founder and CEO of Pact in a statement. “This collaboration empowers our customers to extend the life of their clothing, reduce waste and participate in a more circular fashion economy — without compromising on comfort or style.”

In 2024, the U.S. secondhand market saw its strongest annual growth since 2021, according to the 13th annual ThredUp Resale Report, and last month, ThredUp made its resale-as-a-service (RaaS) technology free and open source. ThredUp is seeking to make the RaaS technology a “universal recommerce layer” that empowers more brands to build cost-effective circular resale programs. Companies using the RaaS program, which include American Eagle, Fabletics, J.Crew, Gap and Vera Bradley, will no longer pay branded resale fees and also will pay lower usage fees for the ThredUp Clean Out program.
