Shelfbucks Wins Innovation Award

Shelfbucks
, a mobile couponing startup, recently received the “DEMO God” award at the DEMO Fall 2013 conference. The award was created to acknowledge entrepreneurs and innovators who best communicated the power and value of emerging technologies in a four-minute pitch during the event.

The Shelfbucks technology is designed to enable retailers to communicate discounts and offers directly to consumers at the shelf in brick-and-mortar stores. Consumers can access Shelfbucks by scanning a censor using the retailer’s mobile app. Discounts and offers on nearby products are immediately downloaded in real time to the mobile screen; then shoppers can download selected deals and redeem them at the point of sale.

Once campaigns are executed, retailers have access to detailed metrics on consumer behaviors. The Shelfbucks portal offers real-time data on spending patterns, product categories, clicks, sales and offer redemptions.

“Most innovation in retail today is focused on e-Commerce, yet over 90% of retail sales still take place in brick-and-mortar stores,” said Erik McMillan, Founder and CEO of Shelfbucks. “Paper coupons, in-store signage and other traditional strategies for increasing in-store sales are expensive, take months to plan and even more time to measure and adjust. Shelfbucks applies the Google AdWords model to the retail shelf by delivering optimized offers to in-store shoppers precisely when and where they are making purchase decisions.”
