Following a holiday 2012 price-matching program, Best Buy has announced that it will adopt the initiative year-round, in an ongoing effort to end the threat of showrooming, according to a company press release.
Beginning on March 3, 2013, the Best Buy “Low Price Guarantee” will be implemented online, in all 1,000+ big box stores and in more than 400 Best Buy Mobile stand-alone stores in the U.S. The retailer has committed to match prices against all local retail competitors and 19 online competitors on nearly all in-stock items across product categories.
The program will operate as follows: When requested by the shopper at the time of purchase, Best Buy will match the pre-tax price for “new, identical and immediately available products,” from local competitors and online retailers including Amazon, Apple, HP, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Sears, Staples, Target and Walmart. Prices also will be matched post-purchase if a product price is lowered within 15 days. Some exclusions apply.
