AliExpress is putting out the welcome mat for U.S.-based merchants via AliExpressDirect, with 0% commissions and $0 onboarding costs for new sellers as part of a special introductory offer. The China-based marketplace also will provide marketing, business and customer service support, including handling buyer inquiries and after-sales disputes, free of charge. Retailers can register here to begin the process of selling on AliExpress.
“We’re excited to support local businesses and are focused on reducing friction and risk in the onboarding process,” said Jackie Lee, Head of Partnership and Business Development at AliExpress in a statement. “By leveraging our technology and resources, both growing and established businesses can easily explore a new channel that can help them increase visibility and boost sales.”
Among the U.S.-based retailers already selling on AliExpress include The PCA Companies, a beauty products distributor; Cre8travel, a maker of graphically designed cultural products; and JemJem, a refurbished products reseller.
The news comes as AliExpress preps for the upcoming 11.11 Singles Day sale, traditionally one of Asian retailers’ biggest sale days of the year, during which the platform will offer discounts of up to 90% as well as a range of prizes. This year AliExpress also has created the $1 Challenge in partnership with BNPL provider Klarna, aimed at demonstrating how far a single dollar can stretch and featuring prizes such as a PlayStation 5 or HP Computer. Additionally, the marketplace is launching a TikTok dance challenge that lets fans showcase their creativity while vying for the chance to win $100 in AliExpress shopping credits daily.
