Alibaba Group’s B2B ecommerce marketplace Alibaba.com is hosting a two-week Made in the USA Global Products Expo on its site, designed to connect U.S. brands, manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors with global buyers.
The event is taking place Feb. 8-21 and features U.S. companies from more than 10 different product categories, including Goya Foods, Brooklyn-based ACME Smoked Fish Corp., Florida-based Mason Vitamins, California-based XJ Beauty and more. Attendees will be able to view virtual factory and facility tours, watch product demos and interact with 150+ U.S. sellers.
The Expo is part of a series of invite-only online trade events that the marketplace has hosted in the last year, all aimed at building its connections with U.S. small- and mid-sized companies. Other recent Made in the USA events have included a Supplements & Nutrition live event in July 2020, a Food & Beverage event in August 2020 and a Beauty & Personal Care event in October 2020. In addition to the trade shows, Alibaba also launched freight and payment terms services last year to help U.S. small businesses digitally optimize during the COVID-19 crisis.
U.S. brands are growing in prominence on the Chinese marketplace — the U.S. was the top country selling into China at Alibaba’s 11.11 shopping bonanza last year, generating $5.4 billion of gross merchandise volume over the course of the 11-day event.
