5miles Mobile Marketplace Adds In-App Payment

5miles has incorporated in-app payment and shipping options into the latest version of the Marketplace platform. The 5miles Wallet allows users to save credit or debit card information to pay for items, or to be paid directly to their 5miles account. After confirming they have received an item in good condition, buyers release funds to the seller. Sellers can then withdraw the money, as well as list items separately for local pickup or shipping via the U.S. Postal Service. The new payments service is powered by Stripe.

The 5miles Marketplace also recently added the Safe Exchange Area Locator in July 2016, a feature that helps users find the nearest safe places in their communities to exchange goods.

“5miles number-one priority is to make the process of buying and selling easier, more user-friendly and secure,” said Dr. Lucas Lu, CEO and Founder of 5miles in a statement. “Listening to our users, and responding to broader consumer demand, we realized that many would welcome or even prefer the option to ship or pay for items directly through the app.”
