URBN, parent company of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and FP Movement, will adopt Stripe as its primary payments infrastructure for both online and in-store sales, consolidating the majority of its North American payments volume onto the solution provider.
“Payments are a critical link between our brands and millions of URBN customers who expect checkouts to be as easy as trying on or adding items to a cart,” said Dave Hayne, CTO at URBN in a statement. “Stripe lets us stay focused on building the best unified commerce experience possible by removing the complexity of payments across our brands.”
The retailer will deploy the Stripe Terminal at more than 600 stores, and Stripe will simplify online checkout by allowing shoppers to seamlessly pay for items with funds from their bank accounts using Link and Stripe Financial Connections.
In the future, URBN plans to use an optimized Stripe checkout suite that will display the most relevant payment method to online customers based on their device type, location, language and additional factors. URBN also will deploy additional tools to power money movement and gather more precise analytics, including using Stripe Connect to facilitate payments between third-party merchants and buyers on URBN brands’ marketplaces.
