J.Crew is joining sister brand Madewell in the world of circular fashion with the launch of an online resale program and plans to bring back refurbished versions of its most popular looks for men and women in select stores.
Both the resale and vintage programs fall under the company’s J.Crew Always sustainability umbrella. The new resale offering on the J.Crew website debuted Jan. 17, 2023, and is powered by ThredUP’s resale-as-a-service (RaaS) platform. ThredUP’s RaaS is also the underpinning of Madewell’s online resale program. Customers can now buy and resell gently worn J.Crew women’s and kids’ items online at jcrew.thredup.com and receive J.Crew shopping credit for items that sell.
In addition to the partnership with ThredUP, J.Crew is also bringing back some of its best vintage womenswear looks at its NYC store on Fifth Avenue. Among the styles that will be rolling out throughout the year are the brand’s 1990s cotton sweater vest, 1980s cropped jean jacket, 1990s denim skirt and more. Menswear vintage looks are already available at the recently opened Bowery store in NYC.
“Over the past year, the J.Crew team has been sourcing mint condition vintage J.Crew pieces to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year,” said Olympia Gayot, Head of Women’s Design at J.Crew on Instagram. “These beloved vintage items are available to purchase over the next year.”
