Ebay has made it even easier for sellers to access data insights from three years of previous sales across the platform as they craft their listings with the Product Research tool, now available on the Ebay mobile app for both iOS and Android. Previously called Terapeak, the tool was only available on desktop devices prior to this expansion.
Sellers can now easily access insights into:
- An item’s actual sold price, including the accepted price for Best Offer listings;
- Items’ average sold price and sold price range;
- The number of sellers who have sold a specific product; and
- The percentage of listings for an item that were sold with free shipping and average shipping.
Users can search, sort, filter and view the data in Product Research in a variety of ways. There’s also a “Sell one like this” feature that will start a new listing with information pre-populated from a sold listing, which can then be modified to best describe their item. Additionally, the company promised future updates to the tool that will incorporate information such as sell-through rate, more trend graphs and the ability to view active listings.
These kinds of insights are already common features at other retailers like Amazon and Walmart, but for a peer-to-peer platform like Ebay they are particularly helpful since listing unique secondhand items can often be an arduous task and a barrier to individual sellers.
