Of the 30 most frequently scanned products during the month of December, six were tablet computers, making the mobile device one of the most popular holiday gifts, according to research from ShopSavvy, a mobile shopping provider and platform. The two most frequently tablets scanned by smartphones were the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the iPad mini.
“The tablet computer was undoubtedly the most talked-about gift item of the recent holiday shopping season,” said Rylan Barnes, Co-Founder and CTO for ShopSavvy, in a company press release. “Our data confirms plenty of consumers were using their smartphones to make their tablet choices and find the best deals.”
Televisions and video gaming components dominated the most-scanned consumer electronics items. “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” was the most-scanned video game while “The Dark Knight Rises” was the leading DVD. A juvenile fiction story was the only book appearing among the top scans, and only one traditional toy was on the list ― Hasbro’s Easy Bake Oven. In housewares, Keurig home brewing systems ruled.
