Stripe, an e-Commerce software platform, has partnered with Alipay with the goal of expanding into the Chinese market by enabling Stripe-powered businesses to accept the payment method popular in China.
Businesses will be able to activate Alipay from their Stripe dashboards without needing additional developer work or approval processes. The integration supports both one-time and recurring payments, empowering more complex business models, such as SaaS and subscription services, to accept Alipay.
“Stripe aims to build a unified infrastructure for the Internet economy,” said John Collison, president and co-founder of Stripe in a statement. “By deepening our existing partnership with Alipay, we’re enabling businesses around the world to instantly access the once-impenetrable Chinese consumer market.”
