New Coupon Site Helps Retailers Fight World Hunger

Save1, a couponing web site launched early October 2012, aims to combat childhood hunger by donating one meal to a child in need for every special offer redeemed from the thousands of eTailers participating in the Save1 site.

Save1 makes a small commission for every coupon or deal redeemed through the web site, which in turn is applied to the cost of providing one meal. It makes monthly donations to non-profit partners with a history of delivering nutritious meals to hungry and malnourished children around the world, and who meet feeding partner selection criteria. Current Save1 charitable partners include Action Against Hunger, Feeding America, Feed My Starving Children and Project Peanut Butter.

“Our passion for helping save the lives of children who are dying from hunger and malnutrition around the world is what inspired us to start Save1,” said Gerrid Smith, Co-Founder of Save1, in a press release. “We wanted to find a way to bring our passion to those also looking to make a difference.”

With the October launch, more than 5,000 online retailers were active on the Save1 site. In addition to redeeming eTailer coupons and deals, consumers can help fight world hunger with three other quick and easy methods available through Save1:

1.       Share the site with friends on Facebook;

2.       “Like” the Save1 Facebook page; and  Save1’s current partners include Action Against Hunger, Feeding America, Feed My Starving Children and Project Peanut Butter.

3.       Sign up for the Save1 newsletter

According to the company press release, nearly 17,000 children around the world die of starvation and malnutrition each day.
