Micro Center Computers and Electronics, a consumer electronics retailer, is integrating the Kount Complete fraud management platform as part of its overall strategy to reduce fraud. The retailer stocks more than 30,000 computer-related items, according to a Kount press release, and is expanding options for in-store pickup of web orders. The solution provides “the required enterprise-level protection against fraud which integrated smoothly with our retail operations, protects Micro Center and our customers from the negative effects of fraud, and allows us to confidently continue our online growth,” said Skip Myers, Micro Center Director of Loss Prevention.
Micro Center operates 23 stores nationwide. Kount help merchants like Micro Center, and other businesses working in card-not-present environments, avoid the damage fraudsters can cause, such as lost product, wasted time and operational expense. For each transaction, Kount’s “decisioning” engine analyzes hundreds of relevant variables and activity across the globe in real-time. It applies rules based on a merchant’s specific needs then delivers a highly predictive risk assessment in about 350 milliseconds. The process provides greater visibility into fraudulent activities, allowing companies to control risk associated with fraud while maximizing sales and reducing the need for costly and time-consuming manual reviews.
