Hy-Vee Integrates Instacart Fulfillment Capabilities for Delivery

Hy-Vee will leverage Instacart’s Fulfillment as a Service (FaaS) to integrate same-day delivery fulfillment capabilities into its owned and operated websites and apps. The supermarket retailer first partnered with Instacart for deliveries in 2018; more recently, Hy-Vee began working with Uber Eats for delivery from its 260 stores in August 2023.

The FaaS solution allows retailers to plug Instacart fulfillment technology into existing ecommerce platforms via APIs in order to integrate with their storefronts and brand identity. Retailers can choose from a range of options, from full-service order fulfillment using Instacart’s network of nearly 600,000 shoppers to simple pickup or delivery-only services. Technology partner Upshop facilitated the FaaS integration into Hy-Vee’s systems.

“We’re proud to strengthen our partnership with Hy-Vee and equip them with the technology and tools they need to meet customers’ needs,” said Ryan Hamburger, VP of Retail Partnerships at Instacart in a statement. “We’ve spent more than a decade focusing on the care and craft of grocery and are continuing to push the envelope by creating even more fulfillment solutions that help our retail partners grow and meet the evolving needs of their customers and businesses.”

New York City’s Fairway Market partnered with Instacart in December 2023, joining Kroger, Aldi and Walmart.
