Instacart has entered a strategic partnership with Uber Technologies to bring restaurant deliveries to its shoppers. During the coming weeks, Instacart app users will be able to order from hundreds of thousands of restaurants via Uber Eats. The experience will be featured in a new “Restaurants” tab within the Instacart app, and members of the Instacart+ loyalty program will get free delivery on grocery orders and restaurant orders over $35.

“Through this partnership, Instacart customers now have access to both the best online grocery selection in the U.S. and restaurant delivery, making it even easier for them to conveniently tackle all their food needs from a single app,” said Fidji Simo, CEO and Chair of Instacart in a statement.

“Our goal is to make it effortless for people to go anywhere and get anything,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber in a statement. “We’re excited that this new strategic partnership with Instacart will bring the magic of Uber Eats to even more consumers, drive more business for restaurants and create more earnings opportunities for couriers.”

Both delivery platforms have been busily expanding their network of connections in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Instacart linked with NBCUniversal to bring retail media opportunities to TV; Kohl’s selected Instacart as its exclusive same-day delivery partner; and Save Mart expanded its Instacart partnership with in-store solutions using its AI-powered Caper Carts.

In April 2024, Rite Aid expanded its Uber Eats partnership to encompass alcohol deliveries in eight states, following its January 2024 shutdown of the Drizly alcohol delivery platform that it purchased three years prior. Within the same month,  The Vitamin Shoppe also launched its partnership with the platform to build out its same-day delivery capabilities.
