Ben & Jerry’s has selected Scala, a digital signage and advertising management solutions provider, to deploy digital menu boards and a live Twitter feed for its Tokyo flagship store. The digital menu boards are used to inform customers of in-store products, while the Twitter Ticker drives positive engagement among customers through social media. The launch marks the first time Ben & Jerry’s has used digital signage in any of its worldwide locations.
“Having digital signage provides a new, cool way for us to connect with customers and helps us build on creating a memorable experience they cannot get anywhere else,” said Shintaro Nakagawa, Brand Manager of Ben & Jerry’s, in a press release.
Scala worked with branding and design company Tesser, which created the global look for Ben & Jerry’s as well as its Tokyo store design. Tesser also created the concept of the menu boards and Twitter Ticker. In addition, Scala collaborated with Solution Forge as the network consultant of the digital signage project. Ben & Jerry’s used Scala 5 software to drive content design, management and distribution for the digital signage, which runs on NEC displays, while the Twitter Ticker is carried on NanoLumens LED displays.
