7-Eleven Boosts Inventory Visibility With Supply Chain Solutions

Seeking to reduce high out-of-stock levels and decrease expiries, 7-Eleven has deployed a suite of supply chain solutions from JDA Software. The retailer has gained improved insights into its inventory and driven efficiencies in order planning and demand forecasting.

The JDA solutions allow 7-Eleven to fulfill each store’s perishable orders more efficiently, while planning for each store’s demand in multiple quantities and load types across multiple distribution centers. Already, 7-Eleven has been able to cut order lead, so stores can order items on their first order date. Additionally, these improvements are designed to enable the retailer to be more proactive with suppliers about reducing costs across the supply chain.

The solution suite includes JDA Demand, JDA Fulfillment and JDA Order Optimization, all deployed in the JDA Cloud. The deployment was managed by JDA partner Cognizantfor all technical aspects into and out of the main 7-Eleven ERP system.

“JDA has put 7-Eleven in a position to take control of our inventory,” said Dean Burkett, 7-Eleven Director of Demand Planning in a statement, adding that these solutions “allow us to maintain our expected 99% fill rates, while managing our product expiry/write-offs down to 1% of our inventory holding costs.”
