Google, Rue La La Executives Among Keynote Speakers At 2011 Shop.org Event

During Shop.org 2011 in Boston, Google’s VP of Commerce, Stephanie Tilenius, will highlight the top mobile tactics Google will be focusing on in the coming year. Tilenius also will reveal why local, mobile and payments are vital to success in today’s cross-channel industry and how merchants can capture the attention of shoppers by implementing specific strategies. The event is taking place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, September 12-14 and typically attracts approximately 3,500 digital retail executives.

In another presentation, Forrester Research VP and Principal Analyst Sucharita Mulpuru will sit down with Ben Fischman, Chairman and CEO of Rue La La to discuss leading trends in the retail market and the impact of social media on customer engagement and sales.

Targeting online and multichannel retailers, the three-day event will feature a number of educational presentations and an expo hall featuring more than 200 vendors showcasing solutions, products and technologies designed to optimize the online shopping experience.

Business innovator, author and thought leader Ray Kurzweil will deliver the opening keynote.

Kurzweil’s session will highlight how retailers can think innovatively and roll out new, creative ideas within their organization. He also will provide detail on near and long term technology trends that are expected to accelerate within the industry.

Other key topics to be covered at the 2011 Shop.org event include marketing ROI, technology trends, shopper trends and cross-channel retail tactics. Event sessions will cover an array of trends and industry research that reporters, analysts and retailers should focus on in the coming year, including mobile payment, daily deal models, social commerce and global e-Commerce.

Gear up for Growth: Innovation in the Outdoor Industry

Mick McCormick, EVP, Global Sales & Marketing for Columbia Sportswear Company, will provide insight on how Columbia moved past commoditized product technologies and developed an innovative, company-wide plan. The session will give detail on Columbia’s journey into its current digital efforts and how the retailer exceeded expectations within the sporting goods market.

5 Lessons in 15 Years of Cross-Channel Retailing

Shop.org Board of Directors member Bill Bass has stood on the frontlines of the industry for the last 15 years. Beginning his career in 1996 at Forrester Research, Bass has worked for retailers including Lands’ End, Sears and Fair Indigo. Currently the President of Direct for Charming Shoppes, Bass will review the top five lessons he’s learned from his experiences. The session will feature tips to boost profitability across channels and efficient methods and technologies that will convert customers into buyers.

Live Labs with Phil Terry

During this hands-on session, the CEO of Creative Good will bring in customers to test retailers’ mobile and social apps and web sites. In turn, retail execs, reporters and analysts alike can observe firsthand the effectiveness of particular customer-facing strategies. Terry also will evaluate these channel technologies and provide insight on how retailers can improve them to enhance the shopping experience.

In addition to more than 16 other educational sessions, Shop.org 2011 will feature two Roundtable events: one featuring speaker-industry experts and another featuring vendor-retailer case studies.
