Tech giant Google will debut its first-ever physical retail store, opening to the public in the summer of 2021. It will be located in the New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, where the company has an urban campus that is home to many of its 11,000+ Google NYC employees.
The new Google Store will allow customers to experience Google’s hardware and services first-hand, showcasing an extensive selection of products ranging from Pixel phones and Nest products to Fitbit devices, Pixelbooks and more. Customers also will be able to shop online at GoogleStore.com and pick up their orders in-store.
The store will be staffed with experts to help visitors get the most out of their devices, such as troubleshooting an issue, fixing a cracked Pixel screen or assisting with installations. Google also plans to host how-to workshops in the space throughout the year.
Prioritizing the health and safety of customers and employees, the store will require masks, hand sanitation and social distancing, and will be cleaned multiple times each day. The number of guests inside also will be limited to ensure customers feel safe during their shopping experience.

The new Google Store is “an important next step in our hardware journey of providing the most helpful experience of Google, wherever and whenever people need it,” wrote Jason Rosenthal, VP, Direct Channels and Membership of Google in a company blog announcing the store. “We look forward to meeting many of our customers and hearing their feedback on the store, so we can continue to explore and experiment with the possibilities of a physical retail space and build upon the experience.”
