Following the bankruptcy of Quiksilver store operator Liberated Brands earlier this month, Quiksilver owner Authentic Brands Group has moved swiftly to ensure that Quiksilver-branded apparel is still available to consumers.
Authentic has tapped Velocity Global Brands to take on the design, manufacturing and distribution of Quiksilver women’s apparel across the U.S. and Canada. Quiksilver products — including boardshorts, dresses, swimwear, T-shirts, outerwear, denim, knitwear and sweaters — are expected to be available at select retailers as early as this spring.
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Authentic to bring the Quiksilver women’s line back to life,” said Chris Laurita, Co-CEO of Velocity Global Brands in a statement. “Through this launch, we will honor Quiksilver’s rich legacy while looking ahead. We will blend surf culture with refined sophistication, bringing the best of the past and future together.”
Authentic acquired the Quiksilver brand in September 2023 when it purchased the brand’s parent company, Boardriders. On Feb. 7, 2025, Liberated Brands, which managed operations for a number of former Boardriders brands — including Quiksilver, RVCA and Billabong — filed for bankruptcy, and closing sales have now begun at all of its 122 stores. The bankruptcy filing does not impact Authentic’s ownership of the brands, and Authentic said at the time of Liberated’s bankruptcy that it intended to shift to a wholesale strategy for many of the affected brands, as it has now done with Quiksilver women’s.
