Ingles Markets Appoints 41-Year Employee As CEO

Ingles Markets President Jim Lanning has been elevated to the role of CEO after more than four decades with the North Carolina-based supermarket chain. Lanning will retain his position as President and continue his leadership role within the company, which operates 201 stores in the Southeast.

“Jim has shown outstanding leadership qualities as President for the past 13 years,” said former CEO Robert P. Ingle, II, in a statement. “I am proud at this time to expand his role for the Company’s future growth, flexibility and development.” Ingle will continue to serve as Chairman of the company.

Lanning joined the company at the age of 15, and was appointed President and COO in March 2003.
