Casey’s General Stores Creates CMO Position

Casey’s General Stores has hired Chris Jones to the newly created position of Chief Marketing Officer. Jones will oversee marketing, advertising, food service and digital activities, among other responsibilities.

Prior to joining Casey’s, Jones was SVP of Marketing at convenience store operator Kum & Go, where he led the retailer’s brand and customer experience initiatives and the creation of its first customer loyalty program. Jones also has held positions at Mars and Athene USA.

Casey’s recently shook up its management with the appointment of three new independent directors to its Board of Directors in March: Donald Frieson, former EVP of Operations at Sam’s Club; David Lenhart, former President and CEO at PetSmart; and Allison Wing, former Chief Marketing Lead Officer and Executive Vice President of Digital Channels at Ascena Retail Group. Additionally, the retailer named H. Lynn Horak, a retired Regional Chairman at Wells Fargo Regional Banking, to be Chairman of the Board.
