Walmart Teams With TalkShopLive to Make Videos Shoppable Across Platforms

Walmart is expanding its ability to offer shoppable content at multiple touch points by teaming up with the streaming, social buying and selling platform TalkShopLive. The retailer can now provide this content via embeddable videos across Walmart.com, multiple media outlets, brand and talent sites and social platforms. TalkShopLive’s technology allows customers to purchase products within the video player on any site where it’s embedded, turning everywhere a video is shared into a potential POS.

The TalkShopLive integration with Walmart includes a connection through the retailer’s commerce API, so all brands with products distributed by Walmart can also create shoppable content by using its platform. Walmart has planned more than 30 holiday-themed live shopping events for the 2021 season. In-video selling will be available on Walmart.com, MSN Shopping tab, TalkShop.live and all product partner sites included in the programming.

“Powering our commerce API with TalkShopLive will provide customers with a seamless checkout experience anywhere online while being entertained,” said Casey Schlaybaugh, VP of Brand at Walmart in a statement. “We are excited to work with TalkShopLive to bring more engaging, interactive experiences to customers through shoppable livestreams.”

Walmart has been enriching its shoppable content with several activations in 2021, including:

  • A collaboration with So Yummy in May;
  • A partnership with magazine publisher Meredith announced in September; and
  • Twitter’s first-ever shoppable livestream, which took place in late November.

TalkShopLive has active content distribution partnerships with leading consumer publications produced by Condé Nast, Hearst and Meredith publications. The Walmart agreement will be shoppable through various publications including IGN.

“We realize the significant roles content, connection and technology have in live shopping and we are committed to creating memorable experiences online, moving away from the traditional product testimonials,” said Bryan Moore, CEO and Co-founder of TalkShopLive. “Our integration with Walmart demonstrates our unique position to connect the retail landscape through live shopping with our embeddable player, helping businesses truly meet their customers where they are consuming content.”
