Testing service provider uTest recently announced the company has raised $17 million in Series D funding in a round led by QuestMark Partners. This D Round was oversubscribed and competitive, noted a recent uTest blog post. “Because of these factors, and our increasingly steep growth, our valuation more than doubled since our C round in late 2010.” The company currently provides “in-the-wild” testing services and plans to educate the market on the staggering high cost of apps that work well in the lab but not in the hands of users. Additionally, uTest aims to create tools that enable companies to launch better web and mobile apps as well as recruit specialized testers, including more security experts, linguists and performance engineers. A selection of uTest customers include Google, Microsoft, Groupon and AOL.
