Coinciding with the International Day of Peace on Sept. 21, Uniqlo reported that its Peace for All charity T-shirt program has donated $4.77 million since its launch in June 2022. Worldwide, more than 2.3 million Peace for All T-shirts have been sold, with shirts featuring designs donated by celebrities such as tennis great Roger Federer, novelist Haruki Murakami and artist KAWS.
Three partnering organizations have received donations from the project: UNHCR (the UN refugee agency); Save the Children; and Plan International. The money has been used to help prevent early marriage in Vietnam, deliver food supplies and learning spaces for children affected by conflict and natural disasters, and provide shelter for forcibly displaced men, women and children.
“Working toward a future in which everyone can live in peace and security, Uniqlo commenced the Peace for All project as a way to move the world even just a little in a better direction,” said Koji Yanai, Group Executive Officer of Uniqlo parent company Fast Retailing in a statement.
To commemorate the International Day of Peace, Uniqlo associates distributed more than 700 Peace for All T-shirts to young leaders, activists, students and performers attending the UN International Day of Peace Student Event, which took place in New York City on Sept. 14, 2023.
