Total Merchant Services, a provider of business services for small companies, announced that Joe Kaplan — the company’s CEO — was appointed to the 2014 Presidential Advisory Council of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA). Appointed by ETA Board Chairman and 2014 President Kim Fitzsimmons, Kaplan joins five other executives in this advisory role.
Although members of the Presidential Advisory Council have a non-voting seat on the ETA Board, Kaplan brings 20 years of executive experience in the payment and finance industries to the Presidential Advisory Council. Kaplan was the founder and CEO of Innovative Merchant Solutions and Innovative Gateway Solutions before both companies were acquired by Intuit in 2003.

“As a member of the President’s Advisory Council, I am excited to be a part of an industry undergoing such dramatic transformation,” said Kaplan. “I look forward to bringing new and exciting ideas to the Council, and fostering business relationships in the payment processing industry.”
“Our new board and committee leadership reflects ETA’s broadened membership of more than 500 of the world’s largest payments and technology companies as ETA strengthens its policy, education and networking activities on behalf of our members,” Oxman said. “Our energized volunteer leaders and confirming ETA’s role as the place to get business done in 2014.”
