IBM has announced that workforce management software provider Reflexis is one of three companies developing applications fueled by supercomputer IBM Watson. The application, known as Reflexis StorePulse, will provide store managers with event- and weather-based alerts and tasks in a move designed to optimize location planning and maximize sales.
Additionally, Reflexis is developing the Watson Interconnect Module to enable retailers to gauge what is likely to happen at stores so they can hire and train high-quality associates.
The combination of real-time execution from Reflexis StorePulse and cognitive intelligence from IBM Watson is designed to enable retailers to identify trends and up-to-the-minute demand signals in local events, weather, late-breaking news and unstructured text such as customer surveys and social media.

“Since we established a Watson developer ecosystem, we’ve seen the creativity flow from entrepreneurs around the world with business-changing ideas for the Watson technology,” said Michael Rhodin, Sr. VP of IBM Watson Group. “Imagine a new class of apps that delivers deep insights to consumers and business users instantly — wherever they are — over the cloud. Today, with the help of starts up, partners and students, that vision is quickly becoming a reality.”
IBM also has collaborated with Modernizing Medicine, an electronic medical record system provider, and financial software company Modulus to develop Watson-powered applications.
