PicWicToys, a French toy retailer, is launching a mobile self-checkout solution that will allow customers to scan and pay for items on their smartphones, letting them exit the store without needing to wait in a checkout queue.
The MishiPay Scan, Pay, Play solution is aimed at shoppers with small children, for whom waiting in line can be a particularly frustrating experience. Faster checkout options make it more convenient for them to visit brick-and-mortar stores without having to worry about their children becoming bored. The retailer is seeking to bring toy sales back into the store by reducing the comparative advantages offered by e-Commerce toy shopping.
PicWicToys has thrived since Toys ‘R’ Us was shuttered, by acquiring and rebranding 63 of the brand’s stores in France. Scan, Pay, Play will be integrated into PicWicToys’ overall immersive shopping experience, which includes activities acquired with the Toys ‘R’ Us locations.
