Payvment Helps Smaller Merchants Boost Holiday Sales With Weekly Deals

In time for holiday shopping, Facebook e-Commerce platform Payvment launched a “Weekly Deals’ functionality designed to offer smaller online merchants the ability to compete with their larger counterparts. Participating sellers are able to feature up to three deals per week on the Payvment social shopping site called

Facebook sellers are anxious to offer holiday deals. As many as 48% of sellers plan to run promotions for the holiday to help boost sales, according to a recent survey of 180,000 Facebook sellers conducted by Payvment.

“The new Weekly Deals feature is a great way to attract new customers,” said Payvment seller Ashley Agar of Grace Hyde & Co., in a press statement. “Payvment made it so easy to create my deals and I look forward to trying their scheduled promotions that drive traffic to my store; best of all, my customers love getting great deals!”


Early tests of the Payvment Weekly Deals functionality showed that offers featuring time limits work to drive conversions, Payvment reported in a press release. During the 2011 holiday season, for example, Payvment sellers reported twice as many product views and sales compared to previous non-holiday weeks.

“Brick and mortar stores and large e-Commerce players have seen success with Black Friday deals for many years,” said Jim Stoneham, CEO of Payvment. “However, smaller online merchants have not had the tools to participate in the holiday promotion frenzy. Now with the Payvment Weekly Deals, Facebook sellers can promote their products for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and more. We anticipate weekly deals will create habits amongst both sellers to create more deals and shoppers to buy more frequently.”
