Dick’s Sporting Goods Launches In-House Production Studio

Dick’s Sporting Goods has launched Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios, an in-house content and production studio built to support the retailer’s sports storytelling mission. The official introduction coincides with the premiere of a new documentary, Big Dreams: The Little League World Series 2024, which explores one of America’s most iconic youth sports events.

Big Dreams is a great example of the kind of projects Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios aims to produce,” said Rebecca Convington, Senior Director, Creative Production at Dick’s in a statement. “Being able to share big sports moments with fans is something that drives our team, and we look at the upcoming years with great excitement as we know there will be so many unforgettable stories deserving of the spotlight.”

While the studio is new, Dick’s has been creating content for over a decade: its first feature documentary, We Could Be King, created through the retailer’s foundation, won an Emmy for Outstanding Sports Documentary in 2014, and this past spring won another Emmy for the documentary The Turnaround, focused on a Philadelphia Phillies superfan and his role in helping the team achieve a comeback. In February 2025, Dick’s also expanded its Dick’s Varsity Team content creator and influencer program by inviting consumers with a passion for both sports and social media to join.

The studio’s name comes from the Dick’s Sporting Goods origin story. In 1948, Dick Stack borrowed $300 from his grandmother — her savings, stashed in her cookie jar — to open a small bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton, N.Y. By the late 1970’s, Stack had expanded the retailer’s assortment to include much of what’s found in its stores today.
