Dick’s Sporting Goods is expanding its Dick’s Varsity Team content creator and influencer program by inviting consumers who have a passion for both sports and social media to join. Consumers who are accepted will receive a paid contract for creating content and posting to their social media channels, along with a Dick’s gift card to purchase products to feature and early access to select product launches, VIP events and celebrity appearances. Applications close on Feb. 27, 2025.
Since launching in 2023 as an internal program open to Dick’s employees, which the retailer calls “teammates,” Varsity Team members have created more than 1,000 pieces of social media content, garnered more than 38 million impressions and been featured in 10 campaigns for Dick’s as well as brands including Away, Carhartt, New Balance and Brooks.
“The Dick’s Varsity Team program and its talented content creators far exceeded our expectations over the past couple of years,” said Mark Rooks, VP of Creative, Entertainment and Sponsorships at Dick’s Sporting Goods in a statement. “The program’s continued success and the growing demand for authentic, first-person social content are the reasons we’re excited to expand the Varsity Team outside the walls of Dick’s Sporting Goods and bring together a new roster of sports-focused creators.”
Four athletes known for their social media prowess will serve as mentors to the new members of the Varsity Team: Tara Davis-Woodhall, Hunter Woodhall and Haley and Hanna Cavinder.

“Sharing my sport online has allowed me to become a better athlete, that’s why I’m so excited to be a team captain for the Dick’s Varsity Team,” said Hunter Woodhall, a Paralympic gold medalist in track and field in a statement. “I believe sport has the power to change the world, and I want to help these athletes achieve their dreams.”
