Gap Inc.’s premium heritage brand Banana Republic is branching out into new product categories with the launch of its BR Baby and BR Athletics collections. Known for fashions that attract a consumer shopping for refined, classic pieces, Banana Republic has marketed itself as an accessible destination for classic styles in luxurious textiles, created through a heritage of craftsmanship with premium services such as BR Atelier, a personalized styling offering available at select locations.
The BR Athletics gender-inclusive capsule collection includes pieces based on Banana Republic’s classic heritage, blended with country club and streetwear elements. The collection includes a Club Blazer in striped and solid color designs and a tailored Cricket Sweater. Looks from BR Athletics include a collection-exclusive signature monogram and a focus on the brand’s legacy through varsity patches, gold buttons, sleeve linings and interior waistbands. The collection will be available beginning March 16, 2022.
The 40-piece BR Baby collection includes sleepwear, onesies, accessories, knit tops, sets, a blanket and a bodysuit inspired by the brand’s popular women’s tank top.
“BR Baby and BR Athletics mix the mainstream with the unexpected and deliver elevated, thoroughly modern lifestyle collections,” said Sandra Stangl, President and CEO of Banana Republic in a statement. “We approached both by deconstructing what made Banana Republic successful in the first place — taking things that people already know and have nostalgia for, and framing them in new ways that feel fresh.”

Banana Republic designed many of the BR Baby collections’ piece with greater mindfulness regarding more responsible sourcing practices, including the use of organic cotton for some of the BR Baby items.
