Direct-to-consumer floral delivery company The Bouqs Co. is popping up in three Whole Foods Market stores throughout California to give local customers fast and easy access to its fresh florals and same-day delivery service.
The “flower shop-in-shops” in Orange County, La Jolla and San Francisco opened shortly following the Mother’s Day rush and is the brand’s latest venture into physical retail spaces. Bouqs has one permanent retail store in Los Angeles, as well as pop-up shops and same-day delivery services in Chicago, Miami and New York City.
“When Bouqs launched nearly 12 years ago, we set out to disrupt the online flower category by bridging the customers’ expectations for a fresh, quality product with flowers that are grown by ethical and eco-conscious farmers from around the globe,” said Kim Tobman, CEO of Bouqs in a statement. “Whole Foods Market is a perfect partner for Bouqs as we expand our physical footprint and offer customers an even more robust experience. We are excited about this new shop format and are equally enthusiastic to have a new partner in CrowdOut who believes in our mission and this next phase in our journey.”
The shops at Whole Foods Market are part of Bouqs’ long-term growth strategy, which includes bolstering its direct-shipment model, which sends flowers to customers directly from farms worldwide. Additionally, the brand is focused on building its ecommerce business through its subscription service, which already ships hundreds of thousands of orders annually, according to the company. To support its omnichannel expansion, Bouqs has secured $23 million in debt and equity from CrowdOut Capital.
