Fanatics, Sephora Add Hyperlocal Delivery Options in Advance of Holidays

Both Fanatics and Sephora have new hyperlocal delivery options.

Sports fan destination site Fanatics and beauty retailer Sephora are both gearing up for the holiday sales rush with the debut of new, faster delivery options. Fanatics has teamed up with UPS-owned Roadie to offer local next-day delivery; while Sephora has debuted a same-day delivery option that will be served by its delivery partners Uber, DoorDash and Shipt, depending on the region.

Fanatics x Roadie

Fanatics’ new partnership with Roadie will put its selection of sports merchandise in the hands of fans faster by enabling delivery directly from the DTC brand’s warehouses in seven cities — Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Jacksonville, Fla.

Fanatics customers in those cities can now order gear for many of their favorite teams and players with local next-day delivery, with more cities set to be added in the future.

Fanatics has taken Roadie’s tech straight into its warehouses, so they’re scanning, sorting and setting up these local next-day deliveries, which a Roadie driver will then pick up from the dock and deliver them in big batch routes,” said Heather Hughes, Corporate Communications Manager at Roadie in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. “It works the same way as any other Roadie gig except we’re doing something like 30 deliveries at a time — it’s more efficient for the retailer and it’s a better value for the driver’s time.

“In some ways this could be very revolutionary for the entire supply chain,” Hughes added. “They call it a chain because there are so many different links — this cuts out two to three links, making it faster and [removing] risk. You can see how this could allow retailers of pretty much any size to deliver directly from the warehouse, especially DTC companies like Fanatics.”

Sephora Same-Day

Sephora has launched a new same-day delivery service, available for a one-off fee of $6.95 or unlimited through an annual subscription costing $49 a year.

In order to access same-day delivery, customers must be part of the retailer’s Beauty Insider loyalty program. Once they are, they will have the option to select same-day delivery for eligible products and choose a two-hour delivery window for their order.

Not all products are eligible for same-day delivery, but customers can easily discover those that are with a new filter on the website that allows shoppers to search by products available same-day in their area. Unlike many same-day delivery offerings, Sephora requires no minimum spend for same-day orders.
